Kona Coffee at Hualalai

Kona Coffee is infamous throughout the world for its rich, bold flavor.  What many people might not know, however, is that Kona Coffee comes from the Kona region on the Big Island of Hawaii.

One coffee farm on the slopes of  Hualalai is Hualalai Mauka.

According to their website, “Mt. Hualalai, a dormant volcano overlooking Kailua-Kona, is the home of Hualalai Mauka Kona Coffee. Our very special pure Kona coffee is grown in volcanic soils which gives it a rich and full flavor. We take pride in hand-picking the beans at the peak of ripeness, the beans are then dried in the warm Hawaiian sun. Since our coffee is produced from beans grown exclusively on our estate, the result is an exceptional full-bodied flavor.”

Mountain Thunder Coffee Plantation is another farm found on Hualalai.  You can visit their plantation and go on either their free or VIP Tours.  Their free tour includes, “FREE TASTING, DRY-MILLING, SIZING, GRAVITY TABLE, COLOR SORTING TOUR, ROASTING FACILITY AND BAGGING FACILITY TOUR. Get up close and personal with an authentic 100% Kona Coffee Tree!. Our expert tour guides will introduce you to what it takes to make a cup of Premium 100% Kona Coffee! Tour includes free showing of Discovery Channel’s Mike Rowe as he tours our farm and facilities from composting to cup. “

Coffee Plantations are just one of the many activities you can experience while staying at Hualalai Hale.
